The influence of the development of woody vegetation on sediment transport and morphological evolution of an alluvial bar of the Loire River is analysed by using topo-bathymetrical surveys, scour chains and grain size analysis. These results will be compared to biological investigations in order to understand the key role exerted by vegetation on sediment trapping and fixation and on resulting alluvial architecture. This research is realized in the island of Mareau-aux-prés, part of the National Reserve of St-Mesmin (map 21, polygon 2058).
